The Darkness Between Stars
Chasing Daylight
Everything You See
The Darkness Between Stars is a collection of poetry spanning over a decade of the author's life. It is in some ways an autobiography, as she used her writing as a way to express her innermost thoughts and feelings, her fears and hopes, pain and joy. The styles and subjects of the poems change, but one theme remains constant: passion. The author's reliance on words to get her through life's difficulties has led to a group of poems truly written not just from the heart but from the soul.
Chasing Daylight contains early and lost poems that were left out of The Darkness Between Stars, Alexandra's earlier book of poetry. Almost all were written during her childhood and adolescence- the formative years, so to speak. Those years are often a dark and confusing time, one where we struggle to understand ourselves and our place in the world. A time we spend "chasing daylight". This is one girl's journey.
Everything You See is a selection of poetry chosen by a poet. Some poems were old favourites of mine, others new; several came to me from books, and a few I stumbled upon on the internet. I read anthology after anthology in my search for the poems that were to be included in Everything You See. But I didn’t choose them. They chose me. Poetry just works that way. Everything You See is a collection of poems that chose me. They are all unique in form and factor, but they each have some special character that speaks to me. I hope they speak to you as well.
